Trauma Recovery Kinesiology Explained (& Why Trauma Release Is Only the First Step)
Published: 04/03/2026
Across the UK and internationally, there is growing awareness that trauma is not just something we think about - it is something the body holds.
Body-based approaches such as Trauma Release Kinesiology are becoming increasingly recognised for their ability to support the nervous system in releasing stored stress, trauma and emotional tension.
However, trauma release is only the beginning.
At the School of Trauma Release, we teach that true trauma recovery is a deeper, three-part process. One that not only supports the body to feel safe again, but also supports individuals to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their purpose.
Step 1: Trauma Release - Safety on the Inside
The first stage of trauma recovery is releasing stored stress, trauma and cortisol from the body.
Trauma is often held physically in areas such as the neck, shoulders, back and hips. Even when we understand our experiences cognitively, the body can remain in protective states such as fight, flight or shutdown.
Using kinesiology tools such as neurovascular massage points and holding points, Trauma Release Kinesiology supports the body to gently release these deeper layers of stored stress.
This stage creates a felt sense of safety within the body.
For many, this is the first time they experience what it truly feels like to relax, soften and come out of survival mode.
Step 2: Rebuilding Your Life - Safety on the Outside
Once the body begins to feel safer, the next stage is rebuilding your life.
After trauma, the brain and nervous system can associate the future with danger.
- Relationships may feel unsafe
- Money may feel stressful
- Career growth may feel like burnout
Even when there is a desire for change, the body may still perceive these areas as a threat.
So we begin with a new foundation.
A feeling.
If anything was possible, how would you want to feel in your relationships, your work, your life?
We allow this feeling to gently reprogram into the nervous system, especially where it may not have been experienced before.
From this place, small, safe steps can be taken forward.
Creating a life that feels:
- supportive
- aligned
- sustainable
Rather than driven by survival patterns.
Step 3: Blissness Expansion - Safety in Your Soul’s Work
For many people, after trauma release and rebuilding, something powerful begins to emerge.
Creativity returns.
Ideas come through.
A desire to make a difference in the world.
This might look like running workshops, creating retreats, writing, teaching or sharing your work in a meaningful way.
However, this stage can also bring up new layers of fear.
Because being seen, stepping into purpose and bringing your ideas into the world can feel deeply vulnerable to the nervous system.
This is where Blissness expansion comes in.
Blissness is about supporting the body to feel safe enough to create.
Safe enough to be visible.
Safe enough to bring your ideas into reality.
So that what your soul has given you, you can fully birth into the world.
Trauma Recovery Is Reconnection
Trauma, at its core, is a disconnection.
From yourself.
From your dreams.
From your ability to create.
Trauma recovery is the process of reconnecting to all three.
When you feel safe in your body, rebuild a life that feels good and begin creating from your soul, you are no longer just surviving.
You are living.
Training in Trauma Recovery Kinesiology
Trauma Recovery Kinesiology is a pathway you step into as you progress through Levels 1 to 3 at the School of Trauma Release.
It is not just about learning techniques.
It is about becoming a practitioner who can support others through the full journey:
- level 1 - trauma release
- level 2 - rebuilding life (relationships, time and money, health, career)
- level 3 - soul-led creation (blissness expansion)
You can experience level 1 and 2 of this work through sessions with our trained practitioners. For level 3, see below.
Our level 1 course starts again in September and we currently have some spaces left. For practitioners who want an incredible deep dive cpd course, for people who have been through trauma done healing and want to make even more of a difference in the world, for people who want to make a change in the world at the deepest level - ending the war within at the deepest of levels - the body.
Blissness Expansion
At present, Blissness Midwifery is held and facilitated by our head teacher, Lexi Dells, as this is the final stage of the work that students grow into over time. This ensures that this part of the process is held with depth, safety and experience, while practitioners continue training and embodying this level of the work.
If your soul / creative brain has given you an idea such as a book, workshop, retreat, training course to create but your body says no. Give Lexi an email for this incredible service to support the body and mind to finally take micro action steps, working with fear, to safely birth more of your magic and medicine into the world.
